After hearing of Kim Cattrall's return, we couldn't help but wonder about the second season of And Just Like That.
Just weeks after it was revealed that she would reprise her iconic role as Samantha Jones for a cameo, Sarah Jessica Parker opened up about her former costar's appearance, noting that it will be as nostalgic as fans can expect. (Her return to the Max revival comes almost exactly 25 years after Sex and the City debuted.)
"The idea emerged because of the 25 years and wanting to celebrate that, but also acknowledge the affection that we had for Samantha—that we continue to have," Parker, who plays Carrie Bradshaw, told E! News in an exclusive interview. "She's been present on the show in text form, so it just seemed such a nice way to put a face to the text, and just have a moment." (For more with SJP, check out E! Before making her return as Samantha, Cattrall previously shared she would be leaving the SATC universe behind for good, which came amid years of feud rumors involving her and Parker.
However, when the first season of AJLT premiered in December 2021, fans saw a glimpse of Samantha through messages on Carrie's phone—which is naturally why communication continued to play such a huge part in this upcoming season.
"It's a very sweet, sentimental phone call that happens in a particular time in Carrie's life," Parker noted of Cattrall's cameo. "And it's just punctuated by this phone call. I hope people enjoy it."
But the tease of a reunion between isn't the only chapter in Carrie's life that fans can look forward to delving into—considering there's a whole lot more in store.
"There's also a lot of humor and amusement and whimsy," Parker shared of the upcoming season. "I think it's a very buoyant season. It's a tone that's maybe familiar to SATC more and it was just a huge amount of fun to shoot."
Season two of And Just Like That will premiere on Max June 22.
