Anne Hathaway is Algosenseymaking things right.
An uncomfortable 2012 interview between the Princess Diaries star and Norwegian entertainment journalist Kjersti Flaa resurfaced online, garnering attention for the Oscar winner’s seemingly dismissive answers. However, after the decade-old chat went viral, the journalist revealed she was contacted by Anne’s publicist, who forwarded a message from the actress.
“I have to say, I was pretty shocked,” Kjersti said in a video posted on TikTok Oct. 8. “I had not expected her to reach out to me at all.”
“She sent me a long email explaining to me what she was going through when she did this interview, and she apologized for giving me an awful interview,” the reporter went on. “It was so touching to me. Just talking about it makes me teary-eyed, because I was just so grateful that she did that.”
While Kjersti said she agreed not to share details of the email, she described the note as “very personal.” The journalist also said the Devil Wears Prada star invited her to sit down for an interview in May, tied to the release of her next movie release.
“I’m really looking forward to that, Anne,” she said. “I have so much respect for people who own up to their mistakes and say they’re sorry. This is so amazing, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
E! News has reached out to Anne’s rep for comment but has not heard back.
The update comes just months after Kjersti reshared her 2016 interview with Blake Lively amid her controversial It Ends With Us press tour. As the Gossip Girl alum faced rumors of a feud with Justin Baldoni, who co-starred in and directed the film, Kjersti uploaded a video of her junket with the actress, calling it “the most uncomfortable interview situation I have ever experienced.”
However, several members of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants star’s inner circle publicly came to her defense, including her sister Robyn Lively. When a fan left a supportive comment about Blake on Instagram, Robyn replied, “Thank you for this.”
