Elle King wants to focus on all of the positive things in her life.
The "Ex's & Oh's" singer—who shares son Lucky, 3, with partner Daniel Tooker and is pregnant with their second baby—gave an update on how she's thinking about her relationship with her father, Rob Schneider, after he apologized for his "shortcomings" as a father.
"I already forgave my dad a really long time ago,” she told TMZ Oct. 9 on whether she’d be willing to have a conversation with him, “and I'm just focusing on being a mom and being happy."
However, that same day, the 35-year-old said that she's "not sure" where things stand between her and her father, 60, on Watch What Happens Live!.
She did, however, acknowledge that she'd seen the apology that the Hot Chick actor delivered during his lengthy sit-down interview with Tucker Carlson.
"I think it was like two hours long, so no,” Elle—whose mother is Rob's first wife, London King—said when asked if she watched the entire August podcast episode. “Nobody wants to listen to that. But I did see his apology, yeah. Of course I watched that, yeah."
The updates come two months after the Grammy-nominated singer made waves after suggesting Rob was an absentee father.
"I would just get lost in the shuffle," she said on the Dumb Blonde podcast in August. "If I ever messed up a shot, or if an arm was in the camera, or I was talking, I would get in f--king trouble."
Elle, who shared that her Saturday Night Live alum father would usually forget her birthday, added that she's also chosen to keep her distance from him in recent years due to his homophobic and transphobic remarks.
"He's just not nice," she explained. "I disagree with a lot of the things that he says. You can want someone to change so much and ultimately, you can't control anyone else's actions. You can't control people's feelings. All you can control is how you react and what you do with your feelings."
Rob responded to his estranged daughter's comments two days later.
"I want to just tell my daughter: Elle, I love you, and I wish I was the father of my 20s that you needed, and clearly I wasn't," he said on The Tucker Carlson Show. "I wish you the best. I feel terrible, and I just want you to know that I don't take anything you say personally."
"I love you completely," he added. "I love you entirely."
Despite their rocky relationship, the Deuce Bigalow actor made sure to give his best wishes to his daughter and her growing family.
"I just want you to be well and happy with you and your beautiful baby, Lucky," he continued. "I wish you the best. I feel terrible, and I just want you to know that I don't take anything you say personally."
